Are Historical Fiction Books Worth Your Time?
A a large number of novels are published each year, which vary a lot in terms of
their genres. Romantic, comedy, tragedy, murder, suspense thriller, and other
such similar genres are extremely popular among people. However, a less
explored genre of historical fiction is gaining momentum nowadays.
But are they really worth reading?
The answer is yes! Any book, no matter what it's content is, no matter what the
storyline is and no matter who the writer is - always has some or the other
thing to offer. Even if it is fiction, a good novel can tell you a lot about
the type of people who existed during ancient times. Their customs, beliefs,
traditions, as well as the social and political situations of any country, can
be known by reading historical
fiction books. Because
ultimately they are based on some sort of truth that used to prevail in that
particular time period.
Two
of the most successful historical books are mentioned below with reasons why
they must be read if you are looking forward to satisfying the bookworm in you:-
'All the light we cannot see' by Anthony Doerr
Think
of a scenario set in the middle of the world war! Author Anthony Doerr has

cannot see'. This book was widely acclaimed by critics for the writer's ability
to say a lot through simple words. It bagged the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for
fiction in the year 2015 as well as the Andrew Carnegie Medal for excellence in

girl named Marie - Laure LeBlanc who lives in Paris and a German orphan named
Werner Pfennig. It covers multiple topics like the attack of Germany on France
and a tale of love between the main characters. The novel was on The New York
Times Best Seller list for 130 weeks and that should be reason enough to read
it!
'Gone With The Wind' by Margaret Mitchell

the wind'. It was released in the year 1936 and won the Pulitzer Prize for
Fiction in the year 1937. A lot of plays and movies were inspired by the novel.
The storyline is based in Atlanta during the American Civil War. It follows the
lead character of a girl named Katie Scarlett O'Hara. It is written in five
separate sections, each describing a different case on its own. The book
focuses on the theme of survival. It is about strength and ability to go
through the storm and not get crushed under it. It also deals with racial and
societal issues faced by the citizens of America when they were recovering from
the Great Depression.
Always

work to pick out good historical fiction
books in India or overseas. Even if it does, they're worth the
effort. You can always gain from them even when you are least expecting it.
