'Gone With The Wind' by Margaret Mitchell


The only novel published by writer Margaret Mitchell in her lifetime was 'Gone with the wind'. It was released in the year 1936 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in the year 1937. A lot of plays and movies were inspired by the novel. The storyline is based in Atlanta during the American Civil War. It follows the lead character of a girl named Katie Scarlett O'Hara. It is written in five separate sections, each describing a different case on its own. The book focuses on the theme of survival. It is about strength and ability to go through the storm and not get crushed under it. It also deals with racial and societal issues faced by the citizens of America when they were recovering from the Great Depression.
